Cushing Terrell Bolsters its Architectural Team with the Acquisition of ZGA Architects and Planners

Cushing Terrell President Greg Matthews
Multidisciplinary design firm, Cushing Terrell, is pleased to announce it has acquired Boise, Idaho-based ZGA Architects and Planners, bringing on ZGA’s team, contracts, and client relationships.
“As part of our firm’s strategic growth plan, we’ve been focused on both organic and inorganic strategies to help us meet our goals, so when we learned of ZGA President Steve Turney’s plan for retirement, we felt the union of our two firms would create a win-win situation,” Cushing Terrell President Greg Matthews said. “We’re honored to help Steve continue ZGA’s legacy of providing comprehensive architectural, planning, design, and construction administration services to clients throughout the Treasure Valley — now as part of the Cushing Terrell team.”
Founded in 1973, ZGA has built a trusted reputation with clients in a wide variety of markets including higher education, healthcare, commercial, government, historic preservation, industrial, and multifamily housing. The 12-person ZGA team consists of architects, project managers, production staff, an interior designer, and business operations staff — all brought on as Cushing Terrell employees as of May 31, 2025.
The ZGA team comes to Cushing Terrell with a strong book of work, exemplary reputation, future opportunities, and key relationships. Some of the work ZGA is known for throughout the Treasure Valley includes projects for St. Luke’s Medical Group, the Veterans Administration in Boise, the Idaho History Center, the Boise Centre, the Idaho Water Center, multiple YMCA facilities, several fire stations, Idaho Youth Ranch’s Hays House, Idaho Elks Hospital, a wide range of projects at Gowen Field, and multiple projects for Boise State University.
“ZGA has always been about more than buildings,” Turney said. “Through the years, we’ve built and fostered relationships, community, and a sense of place. Joining Cushing Terrell allows us to continue our mission with even greater capacity, while honoring the values that have guided us for the past 52 years.”
