Cushing Terrell Promotes 16 Team Members as the Firm’s Newest Associates

The associates represent nine disciplines, plus marketing and business development, each bringing skills and qualities that contribute to a thriving company.

Multidisciplinary design firm Cushing Terrell recently announced the promotion of 16 team members to associate, a first-level ownership tier. These team members hail from eight of the firm’s 17 offices and represent nine professional disciplines, as well as business development and marketing. The promotion to associate is based on an individual’s unique display of commitment to Cushing Terrell’s core values and their contributions to the firm’s mission-driven causes, business and design excellence, industry relationships, and client success.

“This year, we have a record number of team members named associate owners of the firm, which is a strong indicator of the incredible talent for leadership we have at Cushing Terrell,” said President and CEO Greg Matthews. “Each of these individuals is driving forward important initiatives at our firm, is engaged with our industry and our communities, and is dedicated to the success of our team and the future of our firm. Meet Cushing Terrell’s New Associates

Wade Ambach, PE, P.Eng. | Structural Engineer & Group Director | Denver, CO

Wade is a structural engineer with 13 years of experience on projects throughout western Canada and the United States. Wade established and currently leads the firm’s structural engineering group in Denver. As a group director, he is responsible for mentoring his team, leading projects, managing client relationships, and developing new business and a strong client base throughout Colorado. Wade has experience in a variety of project types and sizes across market sectors with specialty expertise in industrial projects and tilt-up construction. Wade regularly attends the World of Concrete tradeshow and Tilt-Up Convention and Expo to deepen his skills and knowledge base.

What unique viewpoint/talent/goal will you bring to the associates group?

“I’m passionate about developing my leadership role with the firm to help maintain and continuously improve the high standards we live by at Cushing Terrell. I plan to bring my energy and personality to the associates group with the intent of providing nothing but positive results and action. I’m typically reserved but when I see windows of opportunity where I can be useful to my peers, I’m not afraid to speak up.”

Nora Bland, AICP | Director of Planning | Denver, CO

Nora is a certified urban planner, project manager, and director of Cushing Terrell’s planning group. With extensive experience helping municipalities update long-range plans, Nora works to develop solutions for complex scenarios involving multiple stakeholders and leads award-winning community engagement efforts that are inclusive, creative, and centered on equity. From housing and land use to urban design and placemaking, Nora delivers comprehensive plans that enable thriving communities. Nora is a member of the American Planning Association and Urban Land Institute, serves on the board of the Athmar Park Neighborhood Association, and is a steering committee member for the Neighborhood Planning Initiative in Denver.

What unique viewpoint/talent/goal will you bring to the associates group?

I’m thrilled to join the associates group at Cushing Terrell. As a specialist in community engagement, I’ll bring to the group my skills fostering equity-centered planning and facilitating productive discussion on topics that can sometimes be divisive and need thoughtful compromise. I also plan to facilitate people having fun along the way!”

Brady Gauer | Roofing and Building Envelope Specialist | Billings, MT

Brady has been working in the professional roofing and building envelope industry since 2011. Prior to joining Cushing Terrell, Brady served as the operations manager for a Montana-based commercial roofing contractor overseeing all company roofing projects. Since joining Cushing Terrell, Brady has leaned heavily on his background in the commercial roofing industry to expand his knowledge base beyond roofing to include all aspects of a building’s exterior envelope system in support of designing long-lasting, high-performing buildings.

What unique viewpoint/talent/goal will you bring to the associates group?

“I’m honored to be included in this year’s incredible group of new associates. As an associate at Cushing Terrell, I look forward to continuing to push forward the firm’s high standard of building design through the further advancement of our roofing and building envelope group.”

David Gilbertson | Design Technician | Minneapolis, MN

David has nearly a decade of experience in retail design projects, project management, and client relationship management. He is known for his skills at managing multidisciplinary project teams for high-profile clients such as Les Schwab and Target. David has a wide array of experience in all phases of design, from developing initial schematic concepts and feasibility studies to permitting and construction administration. Through his mentorship of junior designers, business development, and community engagement, David has contributed to growing Cushing Terrell’s presence and visibility in the Twin Cities and Midwest region.

What unique viewpoint/talent/goal will you bring to the associates group?

“I plan to continue to bring compassion to our work, extending it not only to Cushing Terrell team members but to clients, partners, and everyone we work with. Those involved with any part of the building industry know the daily challenges that can arise and seem so daunting in the moment. Keeping a level head and showing compassion and care at those times can really make the difference in a project deemed successful. At the end of the day, I think we’re all looking to have work we can point to that makes us feel proud.”

Kate Gray | Marketing Team Manager | Denver, CO

Kate oversees Cushing Terrell’s marketing team and the development of marketing collateral and community engagement programs for the firm’s market-sector groups. Kate oversees the coordination and creation of proposal responses and participates in business development efforts to identify prospective clients. Additionally, she directs efforts related to the use and training of CRM databases and technology tools, award submissions, interview preparation, conferences and trade shows, and overall process improvements and strategy as it relates to firm-wide marketing activities. Kate is a member of the Society for Marketing Professional Services.

What unique viewpoint/talent/goal will you be bringing to the associates group?

“I’m excited to bring my creativity and strategic mindset to the associates group. My goal is to help align our design work with what our clients truly need — focusing on innovation, sustainability, and collaboration. I believe in fresh ideas and teamwork, which not only result in positive impacts for the communities we serve but also foster our own growth and creativity. Through marketing, I hope to share how we can make a difference as a design firm, strengthening our reputation and contributing to long-term growth.”

Ross Hamand | Visualization Design Manager | Bozeman, MT

Ross is the firm’s visualization design manager, responsible for leading the DSGNX (design excellence) group’s visualization team and training. Ross has spent the last 20 years honing his skills in 3D modeling, rendering, animations, and virtual reality. Through his technical prowess and his work to drive visualization innovations across the firm, Ross has been instrumental in developing compelling materials for client presentations and use, marketing, and the pursuit of new work — all as a way to showcase the creative design talent and solutions that the Cushing Terrell team can deliver.

What unique viewpoint/talent/goal will you be bringing to the associates group?

“I’m thrilled to join Cushing Terrell’s associates team as the first visualization specialist in the group. In this role, I plan to leverage my passion for visual communications and design and serve as an advocate for growing our opportunities to enhance our visualization services and build upon the firm’s legacy of exceptional client care.”

Angelica Henderson, CID, RID, LEED ID+C BD+C | Regional Interior Design Team Manager | Austin, TX

As a regional manager for Cushing Terrell’s interior design team in Austin, Angelica is responsible for high-level projects, from initial programming to construction administration; current client relationships; new business pursuits; and mentorship for the local design team. Angelica is dedicated to meeting her clients’ needs through her expertise in the commercial office market and her passion for creating workplace environments that support occupant health and well-being. She continuously enhances her professional knowledge through a variety of well-respected industry organizations in support of responsible, sustainable design and continuous learning.

What unique viewpoint/talent/goal will you be bringing to the associates group?

Bob Howard | Architect | Boise, ID

Bob is an architect with more than 30 years of experience working on a variety of project types and sizes. As a project architect, Bob manages new construction projects with aggressive schedules through contract documents, permitting, and construction phases. His work primarily focuses on the design of multi-story commercial office buildings, healthcare facilities, recreational venues, and educational facilities. His ability to work with clients to meet changing needs and solve design challenges with thoughtful solutions while providing contractors with the information needed to maintain construction schedules, has made him a “go to” for some of the firm’s most complex projects.

What unique viewpoint/talent/goal will you be bringing to the associates group?

“As an associate owner of the firm, I will continue my commitment to delivering highly successful projects for our clients, while pursuing a role in the evolution and growth of our firm. It’s rewarding to be recognized for my contributions to the teams I’m part of and the work we do, and now I have the opportunity to apply my experience and creative problem-solving skills to even more aspects of our firm and its operations.”

Amanda Jungles | Regional Director of Business Development | Billings, MT

Amanda has 15 years of experience in marketing and business development and serves as a regional director of business development for Cushing Terrell. She leads market positioning for the firm’s office in Billings, Montana — as well as locations across the state — and is responsible for collaborating with business development colleagues and market leaders throughout the firm to grow Cushing Terrell’s body of work. She partners with regional leadership to help position the firm for large-scale project pursuits, supports industry engagement opportunities, and spearheads community involvement and volunteer efforts for the Billings office.

What unique viewpoint/talent/goal will you be bringing to the associates group?

“With a track record of leading business development initiatives for top design firms from coast to coast, I bring a unique perspective on building and nurturing client and community relationships. Mallory Mashek | Architect | Billings, MT

Mallory is an architect with more than a decade of design experience. She specializes in the commercial market and financial projects, supporting clients from early preliminary design through construction. She is adept at managing projects and coordinating project teams, working with clients, construction contractors, partners, and subcontractors through all phases of a project — schematic design, design development, construction documents, and construction administration. She thrives on complex, out-of-the box projects that are both functional and aesthetically pleasing, ensuring they serve their purpose and meet client and community needs.

What unique viewpoint/talent/goal will you be bringing to the associates group?

“I’m very thankful for this opportunity to be a part of the associates group! I look forward to bringing our teams together both internally and externally. I plan to encourage each discipline to effectively collaborate in the delivery of holistic services and projects for our clients. I also plan to continue being a responsible team member working with our clients and contractors — without them, we would not have projects, nor would we be able to see our designs become a reality.”

Cole Moller, PE | Structural Engineer | Billings, MT

Cole has been part of Cushing Terrell’s structural engineering group for the past seven years. His experience includes structural design for new construction projects, tenant improvements, and remodels. He specializes in solving structural challenges related to extreme weather, seismic activity, and other unique factors. He is known for his collaborative nature, working to ensure all building programs and aesthetic decisions align with structural elements, resulting in projects that exceed client expectations.

What unique viewpoint/talent/goal will you be bringing to the associates group?

“There’s always a solution when a problem arises in design or construction. It does not always jump off the page, and sometimes requires a different perspective, but there’s a solution. I look at the circumstances at hand and work to find the best outcome for each project or any task I may take on. I enjoy collaborating with our internal design team to develop projects our clients can be proud of, and I enjoy seeing that hard work come to fruition on the job site. I look forward to continuing to learn and grow, as well as to help colleagues learn and grow. You can achieve great things when working together. My goal is to always strive to be better, and my hope is to share that with those around me.”

Madeline Randolfi, NCIDQ, ASID | Interior Designer | Seattle, WA

Madeline is an interior designer with a portfolio of work spanning commercial, education, and healthcare projects. She’s been instrumental in establishing a lighting design group at Cushing Terrell, bringing together interiors, architecture, and electrical engineering for this specialty service. In addition to her career as an interior designer, Madeline serves as a Cultural Ambassador at Cushing Terrell. Her role involves providing a welcoming experience for new team members while supporting the firm’s involvement with local communities and engagement across digital platforms. Madeline has served on the Intermountain Chapter of ASID board of directors since 2016, serving as communications director, president-elect, and president.

What unique viewpoint/talent/goal will you be bringing to the associates group?

“As an associate, my goal is to strengthen our culture where individuals feel heard, supported, and valued through authentic interactions. I believe that culture is shaped by small, consistent actions, and I’m excited for the opportunity to contribute to a more inclusive environment. Additionally, I’m passionate about integrating lighting design into our projects and advocating for cross-disciplinary collaboration to create innovative solutions that enhance the user experience and align with our clients’ visions.”

Deanna Schrenk | Electrical Designer | Missoula, MT

Deanna is an electrical designer with a deep knowledge base developed through electrical wholesale, lighting sales, contractor project management, and electrical design for a variety of project types. Her project involvement includes assisting owners with low-voltage system requirements such as communications, security, and access control, and working closely with electric utilities to coordinate electrical service entrance and meter stack requirements. She collaborates with owners and interior designers to find lighting and controls systems that are economical and aesthetically pleasing while meeting IECC standards. With her varied experience, Deanna has the ability to identify design conflicts, problem solve, and develop solutions.

What unique viewpoint/talent/goal will you be bringing to the associates group?

“I’m thrilled to be joining the associates group and consider it a significant milestone in my career. My non-traditional background in electrical construction management equips me with unique experiences I believe will benefit the team. Throughout my professional journey, I’ve consistently approached challenges with a creative mindset focused on problem solving. I eagerly anticipate the new challenges and am excited to contribute to the development of innovative solutions. Additionally, I’m at a stage in my career where I find great fulfillment in mentoring the next generation of talent. I aim to inspire the ‘younger, faster, stronger’ to grow and thrive in their careers.”

Ryan Schwartz | Building Performance Analyst | Boise, ID

Ryan is a building performance analyst with a focus on sustainable design solutions. Ryan provides energy modeling and analysis at all stages of design to inform the data-driven decisions necessary to achieve aggressive energy reduction goals. He supports projects and teams across market sectors, as well as the firm’s Sustainability service sector, and works to advance energy solutions and benchmarking. His knowledge covers a variety of tools and analyses, including energy, life-cycle cost, daylighting, views, data center CFD (computational fluid dynamics), and scripting to enhance workflow efficiency. Additionally, Ryan supports Cushing Terrell’s technology group with automation workflow development.

What unique viewpoint/talent/goal will you be bringing to the associates group?

“Finding myself at the intersection of sustainability and technology, my goal is to advocate for tools and workflows that reduce friction in design, freeing teams to focus on the creative, impactful work that inspired them to join this industry. I want to ensure technology is a catalyst for our projects, helping designers access the right knowledge at the right time to make informed decisions and be responsible stewards of our built environment.”

Corey Stremcha | Project Design Lead | Billings, MT

Corey is an architectural design technician and project design lead specializing in the healthcare market. He supports projects from preliminary client meetings and conceptual design through construction administration. He is known for his extensive design knowledge and technical skills, which he shares through lunch and learns, design charrettes, architectural competitions, and mentorship. In addition to pushing design boundaries, Corey places a strong emphasis on community outreach, volunteering at a local elementary school to facilitate STEM activities and taking every opportunity to mentor young people interested in the field of architecture. Corey is a member of the Billings Architectural Association.

What unique viewpoint/talent/goal will you be bringing to the associates group?

“My continuing and most important goal is to represent the design community in our firm. I offer a unique perspective as I’ve worked and designed projects in several market sectors including commercial, multifamily, civic, and healthcare. I believe in knowledge distribution and do my best to mentor others. I intend to bring this work experience, knowledge delivery, and design acumen to the associates group.”

Eric Wilson | Mechanical Engineer | Billings, MT

Eric is an engineer with eight years of combined chemical engineering and mechanical engineering experience. At Cushing Terrell, he designs mechanical systems for projects across market sectors including healthcare, education, commercial, and retail. Committed to providing his clients with exceptional service in a timely manner, he is known for being efficient and knowledgeable in sizing equipment, troubleshooting mechanical issues, and modifying designs to conform with existing building conditions. Eric also contributes to a welcoming, supportive team environment as a member of Cushing Terrell’s Cultural Ambassador group, which supports the onboarding of new team members and facilitates team activities.

What unique viewpoint/talent/goal will you be bringing to the associates group?

“My goal is to continue to be part of growing the healthcare group, helping to improve project efficiencies through the use of technology and cross-training. Coming from an industrial design background, I believe we can always refine and build upon how we go about collecting information and assessing existing facilities. I also know we can further expand and share our knowledge of designing healthcare facilities to better serve our clients and continuously enhance our capabilities.”
