Willard Alternative High School
The Cushing Terrell design team worked closely with Missoula County Public Schools to design a new 28,500 sq. ft., 14-classroom alternative high school that specifically caters to its 150 students. The 21st century skills of critical thinking, collaboration, communication, and creativity were at the forefront of the design process, emphasizing flexible learning environments that inspire student growth.
With Willard Alternative High School having the highest percentage rate of graduates who stay in the Missoula
community after graduation, the Cushing Terrell design team designed a Family Resource Center, culinary space, art and music facilities, and outdoor garden areas to give students the opportunity to gain hands-on experience, providing them with lifelong skills. An outdoor amphitheater, multipurpose spaces, and break out areas were created to inspire collaboration and creativity.
