Whitefish Credit Union, South Kalispell Branch
Cushing Terrell provided multidisciplinary services including architectural, engineering and landscape design services for a new two-story credit union branch in Kalispell, Montana, along Highway 93. The goal was to enhance the brand established at Whitefish Credit Union’s Columbia Falls branch while ensuring contemporary relevance. It stands as a prominent anchor on the city’s south side.
Â
The 7,110 sq. ft. main level features offices, workstations, a 4-lobby teller line with driveline tellers, secure cash vault, and essential facilities. The 3,774 sq. ft. upper level includes additional offices, workstations, break room, and a conference room. The design preserves core architectural elements but introduces a more contemporary palette, featuring squared columns, metal siding, and lighter interior selections.Â
Â
The building maintains architectural values such as the hip roof, stone bump-outs, wood siding, and exposed structural elements. It includes a grand double-height lobby with ribbon clerestory windows for abundant natural light.Â
Â
Cushing Terrell designed creative solutions for challenges like the visual impact of rooftop mechanical units and addressing the steel moment frame for lateral support between glass elements.
