Town & Country Markets Mill Creek Field House Renovation
The Town & Country Markets Mill Creek location was renovated with a focus on the store’s food service areas and the goal of creating elevated food offerings and a restaurant dining experience within a grocery setting. To achieve this goal, one of the key moves was to open up and connect the indoor and outdoor seating areas with sliding panels and modified, larger glazing, bringing in air and light, and creating a welcoming ambience.
The interior work involved renovation of the food service and seating areas, adding a restaurant and café, relocating the sushi station, reworking the specialty cheese and deli meat space to accommodate new food offerings, modifying the bakery and café/beverage departments, expanding the seating areas, and adding new ceiling elements, soffits, and decorative lighting to compliment the new department configurations.
The exterior work included punching out the existing windows in the seating area to become operable sliding doors that connect indoor and outdoor dining areas. The exterior patio includes planters and decorative enclosure panels to create a protected space with vibrant vegetation. The patio not only enhances the outdoor dining experience, but also provides space for events and gatherings.
The new layout strategically allows for improved customer experiences. For example, the café includes bar seating so customers can interact with Town & Country staff, while the sushi area is now near the front of the store with a customer-facing counter where people can see their sushi being freshly prepared.
Materials and colors were thoughtfully selected to create an open, dynamic, and casual vibe for the new restaurant space. Updates to the millwork, décor, and finishes highlight a color palette that ties together the entire store and reflects Town & Country Markets brand colors. Earthen tones with pops of green also echo wooded Pacific Northwest settings. One unique material is the textured glass used for the partition wall, which separates the restaurant from the grocery area and creates a semi-transparent demarcation. The mesh screen above the café counter is a prominent feature that can be seen from afar, yet appears light and airy. Wood textured pendants above the bar tables create a warm and cozy feel for the Field House dining experience, while the booth seating features metal pendants that are dropped lower to bring down the scale of the space.
With the modified customer-facing layout, interior and outdoor connections, and overall color and material selections, the remodel helps bring about a new food, beverage, and dining experience within the existing grocery store.
