“Together Chaffee County” Comprehensive Plan Update

Cushing Terrell completed a comprehensive plan update for Chaffee County, including the towns of Buena Vista, Salida, and Poncha Springs, and faces enormous growth problems. As a tourist-based economy, the county doubles in size for six months out of the year. Transportation, housing, water, and servicing top the charts of issues facing Chaffee County. The project was a substantial public outreach exercise that included the use of the Bang the Table platform, Facebook, neighborhood meetings, community open houses, storefront open houses, and other methods to gain input.

A major portion of the comprehensive plan was a detailed infrastructure assessment that identified existing infrastructure, plus proposed infrastructure including available lands and buiding type. Cushing Terrell worked with local outreach team members to attend dozens of local meetings and gain unique insight to regional issues and to help formulate solutions.
