Pacific Gas and Electric Infrastructure Improvements

As a part of Pacific Gas and Electric’s infrastructure improvements and wildfire mitigation plan, the utility is working with Cushing Terrell to install new microgrid facilities at remote sites throughout their service area. Each site features a standalone photovoltaic (PV) array, battery energy storage system, and a back-up propane generator to ensure resilience and reliability.

The microgrid systems will enable the removal of overhead distributions lines for these sites, reducing the risk of wild fires. Additionally, they will provide a minimum of a 75% renewable energy fraction at year 10, meaning that 75% of the energy consumed each year comes from the PV systems.

The microgrid system sizing, design, and energy modeling were all performed by Cushing Terrell’s Infrastructure Group.
