Flathead Valley Community College
Broussard Center for Nursing & Health Science
Designed to harmonize with the existing concrete, glass, and metal-adorned school campus, the 35,000 sq. ft. Broussard Center building is the new home for FVCC’s expanded nursing program, with state-of-the-art lab and mock nursing stations. The new facility is arranged in a simple manner, providing ideal wayfinding, daylighting, and flexible spaces designed to adapt to varying teaching styles. In addition to many new general classrooms and study areas designed to encourage group collaboration, the dynamic and inviting main lobby serves as a place of social gathering and study, and offers an incredible panoramic view of Glacier Park. Cushing Terrell’s multi-disciplinary team provided all design services and also assisted with facility assessments, commissioning, sports complex design, and campus master planning.
Student Apartment Complex
With only 15 off-campus units (leased from a third party) providing student housing to 30 out of roughly 2,400 enrolled students, and with survey results indicating students found it difficult and expensive to find housing near campus, FVCC’s board partnered with a multi-disciplinary team from Cushing Terrell to design and oversee construction of the school’s first on-campus housing. The new student apartment complex consists of 124 beds situated within double and single units, each with efficient living spaces with kitchens. Building common spaces provide collaboration and study areas for students as well as mail, laundry, and storage facilities.
