Altana Federal Credit Union, Billings, West End

Altana Federal Credit Union completed a phased interior, 23,000 square foot renovation for all three levels of its West End headquarters in Billings, Montana. Originally designed by Cushing Terrell in the early 2000s, the project refreshed the space while honoring the original architectural intent. The primary goal was to modernize the interior through updated finishes, furnishings, and lighting while strengthening Altana’s brand identity.

Improvements included new carpet and flooring throughout, updated wall and surface finishes, and a brighter neutral paint palette accented with Altana’s signature green. A new training space was added to support large group meetings, and private offices were redesigned to feel brighter. 

Additional offices were created using a demountable wall system that maintains acoustic performance while improving visibility and flexibility. New furniture in the main lobby enhances comfort and creates a welcoming experience for members.

A favorite, key design feature is the large, bright green “Altana” logo behind the teller line, intentionally placed as a focal point upon entry. Energy-efficient lighting was installed building-wide; a custom patterned carpet ties Altana’s colors into existing wood and stone elements, and seating was sustainably refreshed through a local upholstery shop. Updated finishes, furnishings, lighting, and branding created a brighter, more welcoming environment for both staff and members.
