Idaho Power Boise Operations Center Training Facility

Cushing Terrell, in collaboration with The Land Group and Idaho Power, embarked on a transformative endeavor to create a cutting-edge skilled training facility, with expansive outdoor storage lots and covered parking, at the Boise Operations Center site of Idaho Power.

The project unfolded in two distinctive phases. The initial phase included the creation of a 16,040 sq. ft. facility modeled after a dam, paying homage to Idaho Power’s hydroelectric legacy. This dynamic structure, serving as a hub for new and seasoned employees, captures the spirit of hydroelectricity within its layout – with training areas resembling spillways, central spaces mirroring generators, and offices encapsulating the essence of power plants.

The seamless transition from temporary structures to a state-of-the-art training facility represented an important stride for Idaho Power, significantly enhancing its operational capabilities.

Despite the challenges posed by a global pandemic, the design team successfully delivered on Idaho Power’s vision through demonstrated agility, collaboration, and open communication. The training rooms and classrooms have transformed into sought-after resources, with various departments competing to harness the benefits of state-of-the-art amenities.

The synergistic partnership between Cushing Terrell, The Land Group, and Idaho Power has resulted in a unique, modern facility, setting Idaho Power and its committed workforce up to stay ahead of the game.
