First Interstate Bank, Billing Heights Branch

Cushing Terrell provided design services and contract documents for a 6,893 sq. ft. single-story new building and site reconfiguration of the Heights Branch in Billings, Montana. The scope included implementation of a retail bank/commercial bank layout, including an improved drive-up teller area, teller pods rather than a traditional teller line, financial service representative workstations for expedited customer service, and an open lobby with a more casual client-focused atmosphere.

The open lobby includes 19-foot ceilings and an abundance of glass, allowing plenty of natural light into the building. Two custom-built teller pods give customers easy access to assistance. A state-of-the-art conference room sits among the open office area, while private offices run the perimeter of the building. The drive-up teller area is separated from the lobby utilizing a secured aluminum storefront system that has film applied for privacy

First Interstate Bank (FIB) based the building program and function design on the completed FIB Miles City Branch. The project comprised removing the existing building and placing the new branch over a new basement. The site design incorporated the existing drive-up canopy structure and accommodated additional parking spaces, an entry plaza, and an ATM drive-through.
