Cushing Terrell Relocates in Minneapolis; Names Rebecca Muchow Minneapolis Office/Midwest Region Manager
Multidisciplinary design firm Cushing Terrell has relocated their Minneapolis team to a new office in the downtown Mill District. Located in the historic Barrel House at 111 3rd Avenue South, Suite 220, the office is adjacent to the Mississippi River and surrounded by iconic destination spots.
In conjunction with the move, Cushing Terrell has named Rebecca Muchow, AIA, LEED AP, LFA, as the firm’s new Minneapolis office and Midwest region lead. An architect, associate, and Minnesota native who has been with the firm since 2017, Muchow has worked to build strong client, industry, and community relationships, elevating the firm’s position in the city and the region. She has played a key role in engaging the Minneapolis team with volunteer activities and pro-bono design work, while mentoring and creating professional development opportunities for team members.

“Not only is Rebecca extremely confident and capable, she’s also deeply involved and invested in the future of this city and in Cushing Terrell’s contribution to that future,” President Greg Matthews said of the promotion. “Given all she’s accomplished since she joined our team, I can’t wait to see where she takes us.”
In her new role, Muchow will be responsible for office operations, regional growth and performance, and maintaining an engaged and inspired team. She will serve as the face of the office for regional clients and organizations, as well as support Cushing Terrell’s involvement as a community partner.
“We’re excited to start a new chapter of our work here in Minneapolis,” Muchow said. “The new office location gives our team a fresh perspective, and the environment is inspiring. The historic Barrel House is a notable example of adaptive reuse in a dense urban setting, and we’re fortunate to enjoy being right here on the river, surrounded by other creative businesses.”
Shawn Pelowitz — associate and government design studio leader — previously led Cushing Terrell’s work in the Midwest region. He successfully built a solid foundation for the Minneapolis team, established and supported their unique culture, and cultivated the firm’s local relationships. As Muchow takes on her new leadership role, Pelowitz will turn his full attention to the growth and success of the firm’s government market.
“I look forward to focusing on our government services work, which continues to grow at a rapid pace, and I’m very pleased to transition Minneapolis office leadership to Rebecca,” Pelowitz said. “I value her partnership and all we’ve been able to accomplish together. There are great things ahead for this office and Cushing Terrell’s work in the region.”

In a previous life, the Barrel House was the where barrels for the flour mill industry were manufactured. A rail line between two of the buildings and was used for loading and unloading the barrels. Today, a fully-enclosed, glass atrium connects the buildings and serves as a social gathering space for the people who work in what is now an office building hosting creative businesses. The Barrel House is characterized by timber and brick interiors and a roof deck with views out across the city and river. Nearby parks, a hopping restaurant scene, and centrally located public transportation and bike paths make a great location for the team’s new workplace.
