Cushing Terrell Promotes New Leadership for the Firm’s Landscape Architecture and Planning Groups

Multidisciplinary design firm Cushing Terrell is pleased to announce leadership promotions for its Landscape Architecture and Planning groups. With the retirement of Wayne Freeman, PLA, who led both the Landscape Architecture and Planning teams, Laura Dougherty, AIA, has been promoted to serve as Principal in Charge of Landscape Architecture and Planning, while Deb Rosa, PLA, has been promoted to Director of Landscape Architecture and Nora Bland, AICP, has been promoted to Director of Planning.

About Laura Dougherty, AIA, LEED AP, NCARB

Laura is an associate principal, architect, and project manager with Cushing Terrell. In addition to taking on the role of Principal in Charge of Landscape Architecture and Planning, she manages the firm’s Denver office, responsible for mentoring the local team and developing client relationships and new business in the greater Colorado region. With 26 years of experience in the AEC industry, Laura has managed multidisciplinary design teams for projects across all markets that Cushing Terrell serves — commercial, education, government, healthcare, infrastructure, residential, and retail — with specialty expertise in affordable multifamily and local government projects.

About Deb Rosa, ASLA

Deb is associate, landscape architect, and project manager with Cushing Terrell. With 25 years of landscape architecture experience, Deb is based in Bozeman, Montana, and works across the country supporting client projects in the commercial, education, government, healthcare, infrastructure, residential, and retail markets. Deb can design and deliver projects at any scale, from large comprehensive plans to detailed construction drawings, and has unique talents in finding optimal, straight-forward solutions for challenging sites with elevation changes or restrictions. Additionally, Deb takes part in the firm’s mentoring programs, helping team members develop their skills in a supportive environment.

About Nora Bland, AICP

Nora is a certified urban planner and project manager with a background in nonprofit work and sustainability planning. Nora works out of the firm’s Denver, Colorado, office and specializes in designing award-winning community engagement efforts that are inclusive, creative, and results driven. In her role leading Cushing Terrell’s planning team, Nora has refined and expanded the firm’s community engagement program, making an impact on the success of projects, from housing and land use to urban design and placemaking. Nora is known for her journalistic approach when engaging stakeholders in planning efforts, working diligently to understand each community’s needs, values, and outlook for the future.
