Construction Begins on Expansion of Girl Scouts of Montana and Wyoming Facility in Billings, Montana

The expansion project will help serve the growing program, which currently supports 10,000 Girl Scouts.

Cushing Terrell and partner Sanderson Stewart are excited to announce construction has begun on an expansion project that will help meet the growing needs of the Girl Scouts of Montana and Wyoming (GSMW), which currently supports 10,000 Girl Scouts.

The Girl Scout mission is to build girls of courage, confidence, and character who make the world a better place. They pursue this mission through hands-on STEM learning, entrepreneurship, and outdoor programs by empowering every Girl Scout with important life skills. To grow this mission locally, the GSMW headquarters in Billings needed to grow too. The goal was to expand their office space and parking facilities so they could better support volunteer and Girl Scout activities as well as accommodate new vehicles to transport girls to skill-building activities and facilitate the annual cookie program.

GSMW acquired an adjacent property that is being utilized for the expansion with the goal of maintaining visual alignment between the new and existing buildings. The Cushing Terrell and Sanderson Stewart teams are providing pro-bono design and construction services to help with planning, storm drain overlay, and the design and construction of a new parking lot and garage.

“This has been a really fun project to be a part of,” said Darren Johnson, Cushing Terrell project manager. “I hope this is the first of many great community efforts we’re able to support through our design services and partnerships. It’s exciting to think of the many things these Girl Scouts may accomplish one day; maybe even working on projects just like this one at Cushing Terrell!”

“I’m so happy to contribute to a project that supports our community,” said Erica Gilrein, Sanderson Stewart project manager. “Our company purpose is ‘To Plan and Design Enduring Communities,’ and helping the Girl Scouts grow and thrive definitely accomplishes that mission. I’m hoping our work will help them reach and serve more Scouts (and future engineers).”
