2024 Cushing Terrell Golf Classic Raises $20,000 for Billings Family YMCA Teen Center Project

Cushing Terrell’s annual golf classic fundraiser held at Pryor Creek Golf Club in August was a great success, raising $20,000 for the Billings Family YMCA’s new teen center project, which aims to create a safe space with purpose for teens where they can gain experience, grow, and thrive.

The renovation project will transform two 1970s-era racquetball courts into a basketball court and electronic sports center (E-Sports), which will provide alternative activities for teens in the Billings, Montana, community. In addition to reimagining the old courts, the YMCA will remodel an underutilized space into a teen lounge for those who need a place to study and do homework or who want to socialize with friends.

“We’re grateful for the support from Cushing Terrell for our new Teen Center that allows us to provide a safe place for teens during out-of-school time,” said Kim Kaiser, chief executive officer, Billings Family YMCA. “The Teen Center includes a electronic sports arena, streetball court, and training zone and provides teens with positive alternative activities helping to keep them off the streets and out of trouble.”

While in its ninth year with a named fundraising beneficiary, the 2024 Cushing Terrell Golf Classic raised $20,000 and pushed the cumulative funds raised upwards of $120,000. Previous beneficiaries include ZooMontana, Boys & Girls Clubs of Yellowstone County, Moss Mansion, Alberta Bair Theater, The Family Tree Center, and Yellowstone Boys and Girls Ranch.

“The YMCA played a significant role in my life growing up here in Billings; it’s where I learned how to swim and went to play racquetball and basketball with friends. As an adult member and active YMCA board member, I know so much more about the important role the organization plays in our community, and I’m thrilled we’re able to contribute to their mission,” Cushing Terrell Principal Brad Sperry said. “A huge thank you to all the teams who participated and the individuals and businesses who contributed time and financial donations!”
